Surgeon Dr. Herbert Ridyard doing rounds at Windham Hospital in Willimantic, Connecticut

What we do...

Skin Cancer Biopsy & Surgery

Skin cancer surgery can be very complex or very simple. The surgeons at Windham Surgical Group perform many skin procedures for both benign (non cancerous) and cancerous (malignant) skin lesions.

Sun exposure and family history effects the risk of skin cancer in us all. A changing lesion (color, size growth, shape or texture) needs surgical attention and we can often perform a biopsy under local anesthesia right here in the office. For larger or more complex lesions surgery in the operating room may be necessary.

Once the results of the biopsy come back from the pathologist (inspects the skin lesion under the light microscope) we can determine if any other treatment is necessary. For instance, basal cell skin cancer can be completely rescected whereas melanoma may need lymph nodes biopsied in addition. All of the surgeons in Windham Surgical Group are board certified and very skilled in the evaluation and surgical care of a variety of skin lesions. In addition, Dr. Kolodziejczak has received additional training in surgical oncology (the care of cancer).
